Dahi Baray/Ballay (Lentil Dumplings in Yogurt)
Ingredients
- Mash pulse 2 cups
- Mustard seed 1 tsp
- Cumin seed (crushed) 1 tsp
- Salt 1 tsp
- Ginger 2 tsp
- Green chillies 2-3
For yogurt:
- Yogurt 2 cup
- Sugar 1 tsp
- Rock salt/Kala namak 1/2 tsp
- Cumin seed 1/2 tsp
- Salt to taste
For Baghar:
- Cumin seed
- Green chillies
- Coriander leaves
- Red chilli powder
- Ginger
- Oil for baghar
Cooking Directions
- Boil and grind mash pulse.
- In pulse put cumin seed, mustard seed, salt, ginger and chillies mix well.
- Heat oil in a wok take mixture in spoon and put in wok, fry baray well and put
aside.
- Blend yogurt with addition of sugar, rock salt, cumin seed and salt.
- In a bowl put fried baray and pour blended yogurt over it.
- Heat oil add cumin seed, ginger, red chilli powder and green chillies stir and
give baghar onto dahi baras.
- Serve with tamarind chutney.
