Design Approach
Remodeling your kitchen can be exhausting and
expensive. After hours of cleaning, struggling, and shopping, you're
probably ready to stop thinking about the major jobs like swapping out
countertops, replacing cabinets, painting the walls, and replacing your
floor. When these tasks are over and done, you are undoubtedly ready to
relax.
If you're ready to take a break from the big-picture jobs, take some
time to focus on the more subtle design elements. Or, if you're not
ready to start an expensive and time-consuming remodeling project, focus
only on replacing the small and inexpensive items in your kitchen. Even
the smallest details can make a world of difference. When you want change without remodeling, direct your focus to the most practical items in your kitchen, like your faucet. Depending on the type of sink that you have, the results can change your space's look and feel. Plus, a better faucet can equip you to finish your cooking and cleaning quickly so that you can spend more time relaxing. What could be better than something that enables you to enjoy life in and out of the kitchen?
In addition to a faucet, you may want to install a spray hose to help you do the dishes more quickly. Usually, when you use spray house, your normal faucet becomes deactivated for the moment. You can easily switch between the two options when you are cooking or doing dishes.
Find a way to balance your practical needs with your design objectives and personal preferences. Just because a faucet is functional doesn't mean that it's also attractive. Even though a faucet is something basic and ordinary, the right design can help you transform it into something attractive that you admire every day.
Practicality & Attractive Design
Just because it's pretty and shiny doesn't mean that it isn't practical and strong. When you shop for a faucet, make sure that you place equal emphasis on design and function. Undoubtedly, the perfect faucet - attractive, sturdy, and functional - is out there. You may need to spend at least $100, but the money is well spent, especially if you let your faucet last for years and even decades with proper care.If you don't have one already, look for faucets with detachable heads. These are ideal for rinsing dishes, vegetables, and fruits. You can install both a faucet and detachable sprayer. A push of a button will change the flow of the water from your faucet to the sprayer. Convenience is that simple.
Finishes
Kitchen faucets are available in a variety of colors, materials, textures, and finishes. You can purchase a faucet to match your walls, floors, sink, refrigerator, and more. Common materials include chrome, brass, silver, stainless steel, nickel, gold, bronze, and platinum. Chrome faucets are the least expensive, and they are also the most durable. Finishes can be anywhere between shiny and dull. When you consider different faucets for your kitchen, make sure that you pay attention to the lead composition of the finish. Brass, which is made from copper, can actually introduce a small amount of lead into your drinking water. Even though manufacturers must include less than a certain amount of lead in their designs, older faucets may not conform to acceptable standards. If you have a brass faucet that is more than a few years old, it may be in your best interest to start searching for something new.
If you do decide to go with a brass faucet, make sure that you choose a design with a nickel plate so that you aren't always cleaning and polishing to restore the shine. Plated brass faucets retain their shine and are difficult to scratch.
Multiple Faucets
In some kitchens, a sink with more than one faucet is practical. For example, some people find it convenient to install two faucets - one for hot and one for cold water. Some people, especially businesses, will install a completely separate faucet for instant hot water. Regular drinkers of hot beverages and soups will find these faucets convenient. If you have an instant-hot water faucet, you will need a dispenser with a heating tank, which is available for under $200. When you use the instant hot water option, your normal faucet may be momentary disabled so that you cannot run extremely hot and cold water at the same time.Double Sink
Even if you have a double sink, you only need one faucet. In most situations, people with a double sink have one space for a drain and one space for a garbage disposal. Make sure that you get a faucet that is adjustable and can run water down both drains. You should be able to grab on the faucet and adjust it to a position that suits your needs.Adjustable Faucets
A faucet should be securely attached to your sink, but it should be maneuverable enough to adjust to your needs. You should be able to adjust the height as well as the movement of the faucet so that it accommodates your needs. If you can, try to find a faucet with adjustable force and dispersion so that the flow of water can adapt to your different needs for cooking and cleaning.
